We know that our bodies require calcium and vitamin D in order to build and maintain powerful bones. According to his recent book entitled, “Preventing and Reversing Osteoporosis,” by Dr. Alan Gaby, it takes more vitamins than we think to prevent brittle bones including Vitamins K and B; as well as minerals such as magnesium, phosphorus, fluorine, silica and boron.

The idea is to provide enough combined supplementation for our bodies to make an abundance of healthy collagen which is the connective tissue used to create cartilage and bones. Collagen also ‘binds’ our cells together and as a result, someone with good collagen has healthy looking skin whereas another will have thin and wrinkled skin.

A healthy bone cut in half looks similar to a sponge. The body deposits calcium, phosphorus and other minerals onto all of those connective fibers and you get healthy bones! The holes give the bone its flexibility, and you won’t have healthy bones if you don’t have plenty of collagen on which to deposit the minerals.

Collagen is primarily a protein which is made from amino acids. Our bodies can create some of our requirements but we also need additional amounts from our foods and supplements including lysine and praline. Vitamin C is also required to create collagen.

Now we know how bones can be made stronger, but how is this process affected by menopause? The loss of estrogen due to menopause or possibly surgical removal of the ovaries can accelerate bone loss for a period of up to 8 years. It is well established that replacing that estrogen helps protect against the risk of osteoporosis.

More often, women’s bones become fragile as we age and it’s not uncommon to break bones in the wrist, spine and hip due to osteoporosis. Unfortunately, a fracture such as in the hip, can even shorten our life span so it is important to pay attention to our bone health.

What should be done to prevent osteoporosis from happening after menopause?

First of all, eat the foods that are calcium-rich (about 1,000 mg per day) and can enhance bone growth including: sardines, salmon, seafood, and green leafy vegetables such as swiss chard, beet tops, kale, mustard greens, collards, spinach, dandelion greens, watercress, parsley, chicory, turnip greens, broccoli leaves, almonds, asparagus, blackstrap molasses, broccoli, cabbage, carob, figs, filberts, oats, prunes, sesame seeds, tofu and other soy products. Vitamin D-rich foods include fish oils such as found in salmon, mackerel, sardines), eggs (including the yolks), sweet potatoes, tuna, vegetable oils and cod liver oil. Getting 15-20 minutes of sunlight exposure daily can also boost production of vitamin D.

Exercise is crucial; in particular, you need weight-bearing exercise such as walking, Tai chi, dancing and weight training to reduce the chances of brittle bones at least two times a week. Include 15 to 60 minutes of aerobic activity two to three times a week. Avoid high-impact activities and include stretching exercises.

Finally, use high-quality supplements prescribed by your doctor or health-care provider, and oh yeah, don’t forget to have fun.

Creating workouts with your theraband can be both fun and effective, so keep stretching those bands and coming up with new ways to this technology to keep your body fit and healthy.

The right earring can be the finishing touch that turns an ordinary ensemble into the envy of every woman in the room. But the wrong earring can be a painful experience for both your ear and your fashion sense.

The good news is that knowing the difference between the right earring and the wrong one is easier than it seems. Here are some common sense guidelines to help you get started:

1. Choose a Great Design

Like other types of jewelry, earrings come in a wide variety of shapes and styles. Although the style of your earrings will often be determined by the occasion, you shouldn’t be afraid to branch out and try new designs. Experiment with an assortment of styles until you find the ones that are right for you.

Your earrings can help you create your own desired effect: professional, classy, romantic, sexy, fun, silly, delightful and/or cute. Choose your design with your intent in mind.

2. Metals to Consider

Earrings can be comprised of a variety of precious and non-precious metals including gold, silver, and nickel-based alloys. When choosing earrings, it is important to note that certain metals have been known to cause allergic reactions in some people. This is especially true of nickel-based metals, small amounts of which are found in stainless steel. If metal allergies are a problem for you, then you’ll probably want to look for hypo-allergenic earrings made of either titanium or niobium.

Sterling silver is only 92.5% silver the rest is an alloy. 14 kt gold is 58.5% gold with the rest is an alloy such as copper, silver, zinc or nickel depending on desired shade. If needed, you can find out exactly what metal you are allergic to by going to an allergist.

3. Matching Earrings to You

Color is another important consideration in earring selection. A nicely colored earring should complement your eyes and facial complexion as well as your outfit. Experiment with an assortment of colors until you find ones that draw out your complexion and go well with the colors that dominate your wardrobe. Remember: You buy earrings to match your outfit, not outfits to match your earrings!

4. Gem or No Gem

The decision to wear an earring with a gemstone is largely based on occasion and personal preference. Small gemstones add an interesting sparkle for everyday wear, while larger gemstones should be reserved for special occasions. Another factor to consider is cost. For genuine gems, the bigger the stone, the bigger the price tag.

5. Is Bigger Better

When it comes to earrings, size matters. A good earring takes into consideration not only the size of the ear, but also the hair and face. If the earrings are too large they will draw undue attention to themselves and detract from your overall appearance. If they are too small, they will not be seen.

6. Remember to Check Weight

The weight of your earring makes a big difference in both comfort and appearance. The droop of an overweight earring looks bad and can be potentially harmful to the ear if it leads to ripping or tearing of the lobe.

7. Hoops and Dangles

In addition to size and weight, the length of the earring also needs to be considered. Although a longer earring can add a touch of elegance, it can also hinder your movement and easily become more of a problem than it’s worth. When trying on longer earrings, make sure you can easily move your head from side to side without catching the earring on your collar or shoulder. 8. Should You Always Buy Pierced Earrings

Over the years, many women have been hesitant to wear clip-on earrings because of the perception that they are more easily lost than earrings that are designed for pierced ears. Even so, the two most important considerations in choosing a pair of earrings are comfort and appearance. If a clip-on looks and feels good, then there is no reason why you shouldn’t buy them. Also, if the woman doesn’t have pierced ears, clip-ons, screw-ons and ear cuffs are popular choices.

9. How Much Should You Spend

Earrings can range in price from a few bucks to thousands of dollars depending on the quality of metal and gems they contain. Most women prefer to spend moderately on the ones they wear everyday and spend a little more lavishly on a couple of pairs they reserve for special occasions. The important thing is that you are satisfied with the earrings you purchase, no matter however much you decide to spend.

Many women suffer from gradual or sudden hair loss after pregnancy, known as Postpartum Alopecia.

Hair loss after pregnancy is seen at different times; it could be after parturition or after nursing stops. It is common for women to get startled when seeing clumps of hair coming out during a shower or brushing their hair. Most of these women will experience hair loss some time after pregnancy- up to around six months after childbirth.

Hair loss after pregnancy is primarily due to the fact that a woman’s body is nourishing the newborn rather than her hair. Usually, around 85-95% of your hair is in the growth stage at any time, but hormonal shifts during pregnancy encourage an increase in the percentage of hairs in the growth phase. Consequently, many women benefit from thicker hair during pregnancy, as more hairs than normal are growing and a smaller amount than normal are shedding. There are numerous hair style techniques suitable for new mothers. One of the options for keeping hair attractive is using volumizing tonic. These types of treatments are water-based and alcohol-free. To use, shower, then towel dry your hair, spray the tonic 3 times on the top and sides of your head, bend at the waist and spray another few shots at the underside of your hair. Style as usal and expect good volume, shiny hair.

Another idea to correct hair loss after pregnancy is to go for a better cut or new hair style. Some women prefer to get a shorter haircut or one that involves less maintanance. Consider having a few highlights woven in around your face line to highlight facial features.

You can choose hair accessories such as temporary hair extensions that can be taped with a special kind of tape right onto your existing hair. The temporary hair extensions last for several days and then can be safely removed with a solution that comes with them. Finally, stylish scarves or headbands are the perfect fit for areas of hair loss near the temple, or over the ears and around the hairline, which is where most of the post-partum loss is seen.

By adopting these styling tricks, temporary hair loss after pregnancy can easily be handled for attending any evening event with your new born. And rest assured that your hair’s growth cycle will usually return to normal within a year after the birth of your child.

Every woman wants to look her absolute best on her wedding day. With more choices in plus size bridal gowns than ever before, the variety of different styles can be overwhelming. Your answers to the following wedding planning questions will help you narrow down your selection from the ever growing styles of plus size bridal gowns.

What Type of Wedding?

You may be tempted to rush out to buy the gown as soon as you receive the proposal from your beloved. But, you are better off choosing your wedding and reception venues before making a beeline to a retailer that carries plus size bridal gowns.

Once you have selected the location, you will have a better understanding of what styles will be suitable. You may want a formal gown for a church or temple ceremony. If you are exchanging vows on the beach or in a backyard, you might look for something more simple and casual. Keep in mind that trains and veils can quickly become dirty dragging on lawns or outdoor walkways.

What Is Your Bridal Gown Personality?

Go ahead and buy a couple of those fun bridal magazines. What gowns do you find the most beautiful? You’ll probably gravitate to one style or another. Remember that this is your big day. You can listen to what others have to say, but you should stick to a style that you love. Ultra-feminine brides may long for a lacey, full-skirted creation. A sporty, active woman might prefer an unadorned, structured dress, and a sophisticated, beaded sheath can be sublime on a cosmopolitan urbanite.

What Is Your Budget?

Let’s face it - bridal ensembles can be astronomically expensive. But, with some good research, you can find a dream gown that will fit your budget. If you have found the perfect designer gown, but it is out of your price range, don’t be afraid to ask the retailer for lesser price similar styles. Sometimes, the only difference between the designer gown and the less expensive alternative is the type of lace, beading, or fabric. Remember to also allow some extra funds for a headpiece or veil, shoes, and undergarments.

What Makes You Feel Beautiful?

As you cross the threshold into your new life as a married woman, you will want to look your most beautiful. Feel free to wear what makes you feel special and rest assured that your feelings of joy, love and happiness that day will make you a beautiful bride.

“Sidereal Horoscopes”

By

Gramalkin

“Angels”

“How to Comunicate With Them”

The Angels are most interesting beings, only too real they do exist, and are certainly worth the investigation of the disciple.

The author has had many very real major experiences in dealing with the Angelic experience. They have definitely saved my life on a good many occasions. More than enough Angelic contact to realize how real and cosmic they are.

It is said the Angels of Light are beings who have never fallen (gotten caught in their lower self, (what most people know as reality)).

The Angels will indeed help human beings if we will call for their aid when we need it. In fact they love to help for it is through service that they get to evolve.

The Angels have proper motive and purpose of course rather than just helping one for their own self-gain.

There are some basic techniques for dealing with the Angels herewith elucidated.

“Ground Rules For Calling Angels”

1. One has to ask for help to get it. We all have free will you know. Do to free will the Angels seldom go about forcing their help on people.

2. Refrain from telling the Angels their business. Rather than request the Angels to specifically do this and that best policy is to just ask then to watch over, guide and comfort you et cetera; then leave it up to them.

3. The Angels like a lot of formality when there is time. In an emergency situation just a cry for help will do.

The Angelic ritual used by the author is a completion of teachings from the Godheads and mentors of my acquaintance. This ritual is also often used as the “Grace Ritual” for doing a Tarot Reading. The idea is to do this ritual first thing in the morning. The last thing at night. Every time one gets in the car, on the bike etc. “Gramalkin®©1970-v11.5

Through the consciousness of Jesus the Christ our Lord of the Piscean Age Master may I please ask you for your grace to do this, thank you. We are at one with the universal life force energy, it is now flowing through us and we feel it, it fills our every need. Divine will flowing through me in the name of the “Christ Self” will dissolve all those conditions that interfere with the normal flow of this individual, it has been said it is done so be it. Through the consciousness of the Christ please send Angels to watch over guide and comfort, guard, protect, restore, give grace and have mercy on my self, my personal reality and mundane current events. Please forgive human miscreation and misuse of divine energy substance and consciousness, put me in the right place at the right time for the right experience to expand my level of consciousness, distribute the colors as they should be through the bodies, awaken within anew the Christ Consciousness that it may grow in the coming years. Please help me to do it right, help me to fulfill my needs and stay until the situation is taken care of. Please get us all back together safe and sound. Through the Christ Consciousness thank you amen Om.

Indecently when requesting the deity to forgive and restore one for some transgression rest assured best policy is to refrain from repeating the transgression. Also one may not plan to sin away their life then repent at the end and be saved.

4. Ask the Angels to please stay until the situation is taken care of.

5. One may send Angels to help other people. An ill friend. A loved one. Or even mundane current events.

6. Refrain from crying wolf. Only call the Angels when they are needed.

Always say thank you. The Angels do not need your thanks. However as they may return to one twenty times what one sends out. Best policy is to, with proper motive and purpose and purity of heart, thank them.

Angels can fly because they take themselves lightly

Good luck, love, thank you,

Gramalkin

Just as fashion ebbs and flows, yesterday’s fashion ins are shut out in the cold! A true fashionista keeps careful track of what items have jumped to the out list. No one wants to be seen in a trend that expired yesterday, so if you are used to wearing trendy items, you may want to keep an eye out to see what’s out! The ever revolving door that is the fashion industry regularly makes and breaks fads in the blink of an eye. Look to your fashion magazines, cable channels that specialize in clothing and style, or great articles on the World Wide Web to determine when it is time to hang up your out clothing and accessories.

What’s out this season:

1.) Say good-bye to low cut pants today

The parents of the world let out a collective sigh when the ultra low cut pant waist line was declared dead. The days of a thong peeking out from the back of your trousers are a thing of the past, so pack away your crack-baring duds for their next time around! Today’s fashionable pants still feature a lower cut that seasons past–including the popular above-the-navel waistline of the 1950s–but are well above the modesty mark than in the recent past.

2.) Personalized Items are so old school, don’t ya know

Unless that “L” on your sweater stands for Laverne, put it away! The era of personalized items, from jewelry (remember the “Carrie” necklace?) to purses to clothing is in the past. Even though you searched an hour at your local bargain basement store to find that bag with your initial embroidered in leather, it’s time to say goodbye.

3.) Newsboy Hats Are Yesterday’s News

Extra, extra, read all about it: newsboy hats are out! Put down those papers, get off the corner, and ditch the hat! Even though cooler weather has arrived, find another way to keep your head warm than covering up in a newsboy hat. Consider donning a jaunty fedora cocked to one side–it’s the latest rage!

If you are concerned about items in your wardrobe or accessory closet becoming out of date, consider purchasing classic items. Look into wardrobe staples that are permanently found on the in list, so you will not have to juggle and reevaluate your closet. Furthermore, you may find a piece of clothing or accessory that you absolutely love has been retired to the out list. Instead of giving up a favorite, consider alternative ways to turn an out into an in!

On Christmas Day give your loved one a special gift. This gift should be real and true. It will let him know how dear he is to you and how much you look forward to spending the rest of your life with him.

This special gift being, your most highest Self-esteem. One that he will never, ever forget. Through your gift of a higher self-esteem, he will know just how much he means to you. After all, you can not just go to the department store and buy this gift.

It is a gift that has taken time and effort. It is a gift that not very many people would even consider giving. It is a true gift of love.

Remember, no one likes to open an empty box, so make sure it is full of self-worth and self-esteem.

You are probably wondering, how am I suppose to do that? I know that sure we can want it and we can fake it, but can we really feel it and offer our self-esteem as a real, and true gift, one that will last forever.

Yes you can! You just do it.

You have all heard of the,”Twelve days of Christmas”?

Well I have put together for you, 12 very positive habits in order to each your highest self-esteem. Not to mention a very good feeling of self-worth. Think of it as the Twelve Days to a Higher Self-esteem!

We have heard all the love songs and read all the very sweet, romantic Christmas cards that are bought by the millions. In my mind almost all of those sweet lyrics are asking for one thing and one thing only. He wants YOU for Christmas. He wants to see you smile and radiate with love for him. So ladies lets just do it. Lets give him a Christmas that he will always remember.

One that will make him smile every day for the rest of his life. After-all, he is very much worth it. Love is worth all, if not more of the discipline and energy it takes in building that higher, more positive self-esteem. This is my gift to you! I hope that your loved one will be a very happy guy this Christmas, when he sees your gift of self-esteem that you have given him.

Twelve Days to a Higher Self-esteem:

Day 1-Write about you! Get a journal and write about you in it every night before you go to bed. Write at least 10 things that you did that makes you smile that day, no matter how small.

Day2- Be your own you! Live your life like you want to live it. Make your own decisions. Do not base your decisions on other’s wants and desires.

Day 3- Identify your priorities! Take care of your needs first. Find what gives you lasting pleasure, not just instant quick fixes. To respect your needs is a great way to lift your self-worth and build a higher self-esteem.

Day 4- Share more of you with others! In sharing a part of you, and making others feel good, you in turn feel very valuable. A feeling of value will send your self-esteem soaring.

Day 5-Spend time with positive people! Positive people send positive vibes.

Day 6-Stay away from the “I want” syndrome! Meaning, I want to look like her, I want to be skinny, I want to be perfect, Or I want what I will never have. These are all negative thoughts that only work against your positive self-esteem.

Day 7- Love Who You Are! Look in the mirror and tell yourself you are UNIQUE at least10 times through out this day. Tell yourself that you are SPECIAL. That you are LOVED and want to love back. (It’s been a week now and it’s been tough, but dont give up! Your more than half way now!)

Day 8- Stop the comparison game! When you compare yourself, you are questioning your own self-worth. A very BAD HABIT. STOP it on this day!

Day 9- Stop trying to be perfect! To be a perfectionist will only drain energy that you could benefit you in just being you! We all know that once you can just be you, life seems so much more fun!

Day 10- Stop putting yourself down! Putting yourself down every chance you get is a definite no-no. You cannot win the positive/negative battle if you continue to think negative. (almost there now!)

Day11- HUG alot! Hug as many people as you can on this day. Just make sure they are not strangers. That could be a bit of a problem. Hugz are just so good! People can not hug enough or get hugged enough. So hug alot!

Day12- (Last Day!) Just do It! You cannot win the battle if you don’t do anything to win it. When you activley work toward achieving your positive thoughts, you not only defeat the negative but you also feel good inside about yourself and others. That is exactly what makes your self-esteem soar!

Well there you have it, my gift to you. How to get your self-esteem to a high enough feeling that it can be a gift from you to him. One that he will surely cherish.

Christmas time is a very special time of the year. We are all in a very positive, happy mood. The Christmas spirit washes over us like a warm wind. Embrace it, enjoy it, and remember to share your good feelings with everyone. Others are also trying to build their self-esteem and could definitely benefit from your positive smiles and hugz.

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and I truly hope that your self-esteem will be a gift to remember. Dorothy Lafrinere **************** “Christmas gift suggestions: To your enemy, forgiveness. To an opponent, tolerance. To a friend, your heart. To a customer, service. To all, charity. To every child, a good example. To yourself, respect.” Oren Arnold

Cornrows and braids are one of those timeless styles that have crossed all gender and ethnic gaps. In fact, nothing is more beautiful than heedful of intricate braids and rows and no two styles are exactly alike. That is why more and more people are choosing to express themselves and their individual style through braiding and rowing.

But as with all styles, cornrows come with their own special challenges and problems. One of the most obvious problems associated with any tight braiding technique is breakage. While black hair has fewer tendencies to break than Caucasian hair, it can still take a great deal of abuse if the braids are not done and cared for properly. In addition to breakage, you can also experience dull, frizzy and dry hair as a result of wearing cornrows or braids.

To avoid all of these drawbacks and to keep your braids looking shiny and neat, follow the following care tips:

Choose your artist wisely - As with any artistic field, braiders come in many levels of expertise. Be sure to choose one that has been in the business for a good while. Also, ask to see sample photos of the stylist’s work. This will give you a good idea about their level of expertise.

Grow hair to proper length - In order to get a good braid, your stylist has to have enough hair to work with. A good rule of thumb to follow on length is 10cm for straight hair and a minimum of 5 cm for curly hair.

Cleanse without disrupting - Granted, shampooing your hair with all of those rows and braids is not an easy task. To clean down to the scalp without disrupting your style you can use a shower massager or dental water pick.

Wrap to prevent frizz and breakage - When you’re sleeping, your hair comes into constant contact with your pillow and your movements cause friction and tension to be applied to your braids. This can result in fly away hair, frizz and breakage. To avoid this simply wrap your head with a do rag or cloth before sleeping.

Keep salon appointments - If your braid artist tells you to get a trim every 6 weeks, do so. And if he or she tells you to get your braids redone within a certain time frame, be sure that you do. This will help keep your braids looking neat and fresh.
