I can’t tell you how many magazine articles I’ve read telling me how to find the perfect job. They talk about excitement, finding my inner fulfillment, and making my mark in the world.Personally, as a single mother, I’d sweep streets if I thought it offered good Dental benefits.Oh, I started out in life going after the fun job. I had a great wardrobe, my friends were envious, and I spent half of my salary on health care. But when I became a single mother, those boring and conventional jobs that promised security and great benefits started looking pretty good. So I signed on for twenty years with a Fortune 500 Company and never did anything more exciting than sit behind a desk. And that’s OK by me. All it took was one very expensive and scary trip to the emergency room with a four year old and I had enough excitement to last a lifetime. So what is the full coverage of dental insurance? Some companies offer a very expensive dental plans that cover most of the cost of dental work. However, even in the best coverage, full dental insurance usually requires you to pay atleast for some of the costs of your dental work. You also need to factor in the cost of your premiums, which may be significant.

Many women have found that special menopause diets can minimize the symptoms of menopause and make the change of life transition much easier and smoother. Menopause diets are a good alternative to prescribed medication and are good for those who worry about adverse side effects. Most all gynecologists recommend that women who are in their pre-menopause stages adopt a menopause diet and stay on it throughout the transition to reduce stress, reduce symptoms, and to ensure good health.

Black cohosh is one highly recommended herb to add to a menopause diet. Gynecologists urge that women begin using black cohosh for treatment of hot flashes. This herb is quite powerful and shouldn’t be used any longer than six months. If used any longer than this, although there is no exact effects determined, there could be unknown side effects.

Japanese women intake a greater amount of soy in their everyday diet, and they are only 30% as likely to complain of menopause symptoms as women in the United States and other parts of the world. Soy includes estrogen like substances that are often used in menopause diets to help with hot flashes. The best way to take soy is through soymilk or tofu.

There are some things that, unfortunately, are a large part of most everyone’s diet and are hard habits to break. However, these foods have adverse effects and can make menopause symptoms worse. Some of these are tea, alcohol, coffee, spicy food, soft drinks (with caffeine), and smoking. Try and keep high-calorie, sweet junk food to a minimum and eat as little of these as possible.

The main food experts recommend for menopause diets are fruits and vegetables, basically just eating healthy. Boost your intake of fruits such as melons, oranges, and lemons. Potassium, found in bananas, helps with women who retain water. Good vegetables are dark leafy vegetables like collard greens, spinach, cabbage, broccoli, peppers, and tomatoes. Regular fiber intake is also a healthy part of menopause dieting.

Instead of fried foods, try and stick to food that is broiled or baked. Instead of white bread and white rice eat more whole grains, like oats, rye bread, and brown rice. Try not to eat as many regular potatoes, but rather opt for sweet potatoes or pasta. Other good things to add to your everyday diet include, oily fish like mackerel or salmon, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, and unprocessed oils for cooking. Other foods that are not so conventional but are recommended are different types of seaweed (ask at your local health food store) like Nori, Kombu, Arame, and Wakame.

A well balanced, nutritious, healthy diet will help reduce symptoms and achieve optimum health in women. The key is to incorporate as many natural foods into your menopause diet as possible.

We have heard it so many times before that there are many
benefits to exercise especially when used to lower stress. If
everyone knows that exercise is important then why is stress,
disease, and fatigue so prevalent in today’s society? The answer
is simple. We know what to do we just aren’t doing it.

Experts agree that one best way to manage stress is through
exercise. Exercise has been proven to relax the body and mind,
burn fat, improve cardiovascular system, bring in more oxygen,
reduce the chance of diseases, lower blood pressure and the list
goes on.

During the stress response, many chemical reactions occur in the
body preparing it to what is known as the fight or flight
response. During prehistoric days as cave dwellers, we had the
opportunity to burn off our stress when an animal attacked, as
it was a means of survival. We were able to run away or fight
the threat immediately. In today’s society, we do not have to
fight a bear or tiger, so we do not have much of an outlet
readily at hand to burn off the stress or pent up negative
emotions. Therefore, we carry it with us creating emotional and
physical problems. Exercise can help by providing an outlet for
negative emotions such as worry, irritability, depression,
hostility, anger, frustration, and anxiety. You can dissipate
these feelings by simply taking it out on the tennis court, by
running, or punching a bag. Regular exercise provides the
opportunity to manage the fight or flight response and helps the
body to return to a homeostasis or balanced state more quickly.

Exercise can also improve self-esteem and self worth by
realizing that you are benefit directly. You may feel more
outgoing and social because of the increased energy and also a
better physique creating more confidence and positive self
image. Your self-esteem may be enhanced by taking on exercise
challenges or goals, giving you a feeling of accomplishment and
reward.

Anaerobic vs. Aerobic Exercise: Aerobic exercise is an activity
that uses major muscle groups such as walking, running,
swimming, and cycling. This type of exercise strengthens your
cardiovascular system by increasing your heart and respiratory
rate and brings in more oxygen into the body. To reap the full
benefits of aerobic exercise, you must be at 60%-80% of your
target heart rate for at least 20 minutes, between three and
five times a week.

To calculate your target heart rate use the following formula:
Take 220 - (subtract) your age X (multiply 60%, or 70%, etc.
intensity rate.) = Target heart rate (divide by six for a ten
second pulse count. Take your pulse for ten seconds and gage
where you are during the workout. Speed up the pace if you are
below 60%.

Aerobic exercise is key to lose weight as it burns calories
which are the energy consumed and adds fat to our bodies.
Combined with a healthy diet it is a sure way to lose weight.
One pound of body fat is equivalent to 3500 calories. To lose
one pound, you must burn 3500 calories. It is easier to combine
aerobics and create a small caloric deficit in your diet than to
do one or the other solely.

Anaerobic exercise builds muscle strength and power. Isotonics
and Isometrics are two kinds of anaerobic exercises.

Isotonics uses your muscles to contract against an object with
movement such as weight lifting (also called strength or
resistance training.) The benefits of isotonic exercises are
stronger muscles, stronger bones, tone, prevent injuries, and
condenses and shapes muscle for better esthetics.

Isometric exercise is contracting your muscles against
resistance without movement. Such as lifting an object like a
dumbbell and holding a position. You are isolating that muscle.

Use both types of anaerobic exercises to maximize your strength
to build healthy, lean, and strong muscles.

Select exercises that you enjoy and can do for at least 20
minutes, three to five days a week. Exercise does not
necessarily mean hitting the gym and making an ordeal out of it.
It can simply be a walk around your neighborhood or dancing to
some tunes. Try to think “activity” verses “exercise”. When you
are in an active mind-frame, you will purposely park a little
farther, do stretches at the computer, take the stairs instead
of the elevator, etc.

Commit that you will begin to be more active and stick to your
exercises or activities for 21 days. Why 21? Research has showed
that it takes about 21 days to create a habit. Document how your
feel after the 21 days. Your stress levels should be lowered,
you should feel more energized, and see some physical changes
such as a slimmer physique.

You may already know the benefits of exercise but are you doing
it? So start by making a decision, begin slowly, then gradually
work up to more and longer workout sessions. The point of this
article is to help you take immediate action.

In the words of Nike…well, you know.

To your health.

Health care costs are now approaching 15% of our national economy and the economic repercussions have been felt by most American families as employers are unwilling to absorb the bulk of the health care cost burden.

In 2004, employer health insurance premiums increased by 11.2% -nearly four times the rate of inflation. The annual premium for an employer health plan covering a family of four averaged nearly $10,000. The annual premium for single coverage averaged $3,695. Health insurance premiums will rise to an average of more than $14,500 for family coverage in 2006.

In 2004, health care spending in the United States reached $1.7 trillion, and is projected to reach $1.9 trillion in 2005. Health care spending is 4.3 times the amount spent on national defense.

Overall national health care costs will increase further with the implementation of Medicare prescription drug coverage. Too many Americans are uninsured while even a greater percentage have no insurance at all. Uninsured individuals also present a problem for hospitals and other providers who must provide treatment in catastrophic situations without compensation.

Many employees receive restricted coverage and insurance plans that are negotiated between employers and insurance providers limit coverage to a single insurance carrier or an HMO.
Prescription drugs are the fastest-growing part of the nation’s health care expense. Pharmacy bills have become a significant item in the budget of most families.

For 37% of Americans without prescription coverage, the problem is critical. Especially for seniors who constitute 12% of the population but use 37% of prescription drugs. The rest especially those without health insurance, is significantly affected by high drug prices.

What has caused this cost increase?
Much of it is due to a riddled health care system of excessive administrative expenses, inflated prices, poor management, inappropriate care, waste and fraud. These problems significantly increase the cost of medical care and health insurance for employers and workers.

On the other side of the cost issue there is the recent development of new effective medications for a variety of illnesses. Such newer “brand name” medications are patent-protected and cost far more than generic medications.

The drug industry argues that the higher cost of new medications helps fund research and development of even newer medicines. Many critics argue that much of the research and development of pharmaceutical products is actually government funded.

Also contributing to the cost increase is marketing. As this is 30% of a drug manufacturer’s budget. Brand-name U.S drug makers were reported to employ 81% more people in marketing than in research and development of much needed drugs.

Policymakers and government officials agree that health care costs must be controlled. But they disagree on the best ways to address rapidly escalating health spending. Some favor price controls and imposing strict budgets on health care spending.

Others believe free market competition is the best way to solve the problems but if people can’t afford it, how will they protect themselves and their family?

Well there is something you can do and that’s become apart of the solution and not the problem by learning more about our troubled medical industry.
