My Australian tour of the coast between Sydney and Melbourne has been one of the nicest vacations I have ever experienced. Not only was the scenery fantastic, the Australian poeple were sociable and accommodating. There were also a wealth of things to do.

With many car rental Sydney and car rental Melbourne alternatives along the coast, hiring a vehicle is the easiest way to make your way around. Car rental agencies are more than happy to help you arrange the tour of your dreams. I found a great one way special to Melbourne at a car rental in Sydney.

I drove south from Sydney through Royal National Park. I was blown away by the Grand Pacific Drive, it was breathtaking. There are plenty of coastal villages along the way and I enjoyed exploring and spending some time there. I also spent a a few hours soaking up the busy city of Wollongong before heading to Jervis Bay.

The next daybreak I took a cruise to see the resident dolphin population that Jervis Bay is famous for. The immaculate white sand beaches made it extremely difficult to leave given that I am visiting from England. Continuing my journey further south, I was able to pick up some high quality craft items in Tilba Tilba.

Mimosa Rocks National Park was gorgeous, I even got a chance to swim in the lagoon. I drove a little further to watch surfers at Tathra Beach. That evening I spent the night in the stylish village of Metung and had a tremendous seafood platter in one of the lakeside eateries.

Wilsons Promontory National Park is home to extraordinary scenery and an abundance of wildlife such as emus, wombats and kangaroos. I spent an entire day hiking through eucalypt forests, exploring beaches and coves and climbing on granite mountains.

Next destination was Fish Creek, a tiny, eccentric and thriving town with arts and crafts, books and cafes. I took the bridge over to Phillip Island, a popular family stop. At Nobbies Centre you can watch the penquins strutting up and down the beach and see one of Australia’s most remarkable fur seal colonies.

As initially planned, I ended my trip in Melbourne making my last stop at the heritage farm on Churchill Island. Renting a car was the single best decision I have made, taking the coastal drive from Sydney to Melbourne at my own pace was truly an experience that I will not forget. Next time I may get a car rental in Melbourne and do this trip the other direction!

Exped makes specialised tents for use during mountaineering and Exped Polaris, Venus III and Andromeda II are the three most popular tent models by Exped.

If you are looking for a tent that is light in weight and useful for mountain climbing, you should go for Exped Polaris. It provides good aeration through its four ventilator windows covered with mosquito nets. In addition to that, it provides a lot of space in its vestibules to ensure that all your necessities are accommodated. You can easily fit two medium sized backpacks in this tent. This tent is very sturdy and easy to set up. While you can put it up with three poles, it comes with an additional pole, which can be used when you need the tent to stand in the face of wind and storm.

In addition to the above, Andromeda II is another four season tent. The tent uses DAC feather light NSL poles, which allow you to put up the tent easily. The tent provides a lot of space in vestibules and extra space can be created using the attachable canopy made of ripstop polyester. The tent also has very good ventilation and uses mosquito nets on the ventilator windows just like Exped Polaris.

Another Exped product that deserves a mention is Venus III, a freestanding tent with good aeration, which is sufficient for three persons. This tent is tough when facing the elements as the rainfly of the tent is made of ripstop polyester, which has polyurethane coating. Like all other Exped tents, this tent also has provision for extra space using two vestibules, double doors and a removable canopy.
