Activities to Get up to in the Peak District
The Peak District is an ideal escape from the fast pace of town and city day to day life. If you hail from Manchester or Sheffield, it’s accessible in about an hour going by train or car and an excellent choice for a one or two day break, or even longer. If you are coming from further afield, we advise you stay five or six days as there’s a good deal to get up to in the Peak area.
Many individuals associate the Peak District with the summer period, but it’s idyllic in all seasons, and nowhere are the four seasons more accentuated than in the Peak area.
As mentioned earlier, there is much to get up to in the Peak District. The idyllic scenes persuade people out of their hotels and onto long walks, and there’s a great deal of trails to walk - as many as 30 clearly marked walks.
There’s also lots of sites to go fishing in and around the Peak District, in particular the Ladybower area. If you’re not given to such physical pasttimes, take your car and visit Chatsworth House. Three of four hours at the house is advised, the gardens alone you can spend a good few hours in! Or go to Buxton for something to eat in one of their many pubs, and a stroll in the pavilion gardens, or even the opera (yes, Buxton has its own Opera house). Finally the villages in the Hope Valley which are stunning and well worth the visit.
So how to locate accommodation in the Peak District? We strongly advise renting a Peak District cottage. Cottages are great in that they ensure you have the seclusion of your own space, and the chance to unwind and relax with your friends and family in a comfy environment. The most effective method to locate cottages is to use a search engine. Use a keyphrase such as “accommodation in the Peak District” and one is sure to find a good deal of potential accommodation options.
